Happy Halloween! How to Protect Your Health From the Sugar Shock!

Happy Halloween! How to Protect Your Health From the Sugar Shock!Halloween is here and there's about to be a lot of sugar consumed!  You need to protect your health from the sugar shock! Of course, we all know it's fun to go crazy with the treats, but it's important to find the healthy balance ahead of time to make sure you don't go through with-drawls for the next week.

These tips are great for preventative and treatment for both kids and adults. So, read on and get ready!

KEEP HYDRATED
I can't say it enough.  Any ache, pain, ailment.....  always reach for water first! When we eat too much sugar, our muscles hold onto it like caramel in the fibers. These caramel coatings absorb extra water as a muscular protection; this creates a dehydrated atmosphere. If you are drinking alcohol or coffee as well, you will be adding to additional dehydration.  So, stay sober and healthy or add tons of water to the mix to both flush toxins and keep the body hydrated.

EAT GREENS

Sugar robs the body of minerals, that can cause dizziness, fatigue and bloating. Eating dark green leafy vegetables, juices and smoothies, brings a mineral balance back to the body, helping you feel alive and fresh again.

TWIST IT:
Just like wringing out a wet towel of it's moisture, twisting your body can aid in releasing toxins stored in your intestines or stomach lining.  It's very simple.  You just sit down on the floor with your back straight up and your legs outstretched, together in front of you.  Now, bend and pull your left leg up and place your foot on the floor, with your knee standing up and your foot touching your inner right thigh.  Now take a deep breath, and as you exhale, slowly turn your body to the left as far as you can go, exhaling all the air out.  Then, as you twist back to center, inhale gently.  Switch legs and repeat this process on the other side.  Keep doing this if you can for 3-5 repetitions and then lay flat on your back and relax.  Your belly will thank you.

ESSENTIAL OILS:
There are a few ways to ease your stomach ache with essential oils.  One, is to place a couple drops of peppermint oil or tincture into your glass of water. (It's important to remember that you should aim to stay hydrated during this time anyway.  While that may not sound appealing, the peppermint will help ease that distaste.) Next, it's good to have a bottle of Eucalyptus Oil Shower Mist on hand anyway, for many reasons!  One being that you can add it to the steam of the above suggested bath for internal relaxation and refreshment; great for internal spasms! Another use being that you can grab a little caster oil, mixed with a little coconut oil and rub that gently on your abdomen.  Then spray the eucalyptus onto your belly and rub in a clockwise motion.  The oils will carry the anti microbial and anti-spasmatic power of the eucalyptus into your body and allow them to work their healing magic.

Nobody wants sugar to put a damper on their summer fun, but if you end up with the aches and pains, it's comforting to know that there are options out there that are natural and efficient in bringing healing and relief.

At Eurospa, helping you achieve health naturally is our priority.  We are proud to provide you with the highest quality products to deliver that health.  Please stop by and let us know how we can further the health of your life or business, today!

Feeling Clueless? Natural Healthy Gift Ideas for Mother's Day!

mothers day gift ideas for moms of all ages that are natural and healthyMother's Day is a day to honor mom, but often, the thought of getting the 'perfect gift'  can be downright overwhelming! It's ok, many people get that 'stuck' feeling, which is why I thought it would be helpful to share with you some natural, healthy gift ideas for Mother's Day.

Going natural is quite a trend these days and that's something we are really happy about.  It's not just a passing trend either, it's a lifestyle that's being born out of self education, a desire for sustainability and wanting to both look and feel good.  Why NOT jump into a lifestyle where everyone wins?  But to be honest, even knowing how to live a more natural and healthy lifestyle can be overwhelming, especially for mom, who wants it most but has so much on her plate already.

Allow me to share with you both lifestyle AND gift ideas that will make both you, mom and the people around you feel good and increase life quality.

Women tend to be very sense oriented.  Certain smells, touches, tastes and experiences can tense up and make a woman feel anxious and others will help her unwind and feel total joy and relaxation.  Because of this, my suggestions will be very based on essential oils and their benefits.

Enjoy.
  • Oil Burner/Infuser - With the burner, it simply tends to look like a ceramic stand where you place a tea light candle underneath.  Place a few drops of oil in the dish above and the flame will slowly heat the oil, releasing it's aroma into the room.  Good staple oils are Lavender, Jasmine, Sweet Orange and Lemon Verbena.  The infusers release the fragrance and health benefits into the air without heating oil.
  • Lavender Eye Pillow - These are great but be sure to get a quality one. The cheaper ones tend to push into the eyes too much and feel uncomfortable.  Great for travel, these foster darkness when you need to sleep, while filled with lavender flowers to help you relax. Great for women who have a hard time settling into sleep.
  • Acupressure Mat - This one is interesting but has been incredibly beneficial for both body health and relaxation. Also known as a 'bed of nails', this 4x2 mat is lined with roughly 100 plastic looking lotuses that you gently lay on.  Your body will balance carefully on the mat while the petals/nails apply pressure to multiple acupressure points.  It takes a little getting used to, but achieves incredible mind and body relaxation!
  • Eucalyptus Shower Spray - This is great because when you buy it on amazon you get a good size bottle for a moderate price! Use the multi functional spray from a room aroma and germ killer to the shower for bronchial cleansing!
As you can see, once you get started, the ideas can begin to flow.  One of the best things a mom can use are natural gifts to promote relaxation, as they have one of the most honorable and stressful jobs around.  At Eurospa, we believe they should be honored in the most special ways possible.  Share the love and show mom what she means to you!

Want to Feel Great? 7 Surprisingly Simple Ways to Stress Less and Live Well!

Life keeps us busy and it can be hard to find time to take care of yourself.  We get tired and need a boost but tend to reach all too quickly that dependable cup of coffee even if we are sick and our bodies are screaming for nurture and healing!

Often-ignored but totally necessary, self-care can be any behavior or practice that helps us avoid triggering worse health problems (like the risk of heart problems due to high stress, for example) and betters our life quality by improving our mental and physical health through increased self-esteem, less stress, and overall well being. Implementing these simple tips can also help provide balance in our over-stimulating world. Self-care makes up an essential part of a healthy lifestyle that keeps us healthy, happy, and more in-tune with our minds and bodies.

Problem is, we can just do it once and expect change.  New patterns of change in our lives can be hard to commit to as they can seem intimidating or we are are afraid of failing.  But I've compiled these tips because they are easy to implement into our daily lives, allowing us to set new patterns.

So get out a pen and paper and write down the ones that feel right to you; ones that you feel you can accomplish and will make you feel good.  Cause that's what we all want, right?  To feel good?

1.  A list within a list - I want you to write a list of the things that make you smile, giggle and make your arms spread open in pure joy.  What are those things?  Can you think of 3?  How can you make those things happen each week or even each day?   For some, it's loud happy music and dancing around.  For others it's swimming or playing with a child.  Think on that one.  Life is best experienced when our hearts can smile. What gets yours going?

2.  Get Outside.  Ditching the comfort of your home gets us out in the world without obligation; cause walking from your front door to your car doesn't count.  Get outside, take a walk and BREATHE deeply.   Being outside alone is associated with less mental stress and increased quality of living.

3.  While You're At It....  Exercise outdoors.   We all know the benefits of exercise and even if you're feeling a little shy - there are plenty of ways to get your heart rate going and oxygen pouring into your lungs.  Find a friend to play tennis or go on a long walk with.  Find a more private park path or beach to stand strong and engage your core muscles.  Climb a tree.  Hike. Swim.  Run.  Bike.

4.  Eyes Wide Open.  Look around and find happiness.  Find love.  Notice acts of kindness, encouraging words and heart felt smiles.  Watch the love between people and see the beauty in the flowers.  It can be hard to get past the sadness and hostility in the world, but when we focus on the beauty still present, we are more excited to share it.  Be part of a joy revolution - and start with yourself.

5. Pay It Forward.   Have you heard of those stories of people in line at Starbucks, waiting to pay, only to find out that the person ahead of them took the bill?  By helping others, we actually help ourselves, too. Lending a hand not only boosts mental health, but may also lead to a longer more fulfilled life. Volunteering also affects self-confidence, self-esteem, and general wellbeing in a positive way.

6.  Common Scents.  Yes, that was intentional.  Essential oils are getting more and more recognition for their healing properties and we are happy that it's happening. 4. Breathe the right scents.  We have all been taught that deep breathing can help us relax. But what we breathe might be just as important as how we breathe. But current research suggests that citrus scents, orange essential oil in particular, can help slash stress and anxiety, and inhaling eucalyptus oil can invigorate the senses while also going deep inside our cells to purify and cleanse us from bacteria and toxins.

7.  Get Sleep! So many things can sabotage our sleep, whether it’s a late night working, a reality show marathon, a wild party, or just normal life. The problem is, skimping on sleep can seriously hurt clarity and productivity, causing us to eat more, and may lead to adrenal and thyroid problems; which domino to diseases like heart disease and diabetes. Prioritize your rest to be a healthier, happier you — even if it’s just a power nap on your lunch hour!

Are you ready?  Ready to upgrade your experience on the planet?  Ready to reduce your stress and feel GOOD?

We are.  Eurospa is committed to global self care, which is why we provide top quality eucalyptus products and menthol crystals for spa and home use.  Your health is our priority!

6 Natural Ingredients for Non-Toxic Cleaning!

I rarely go to the supermarket for anything more than food these days.  Of course I buy certain staples like toilet paper but when it comes to cleaning supplies, you may be surprised as to what I buy, where I buy it and how I use it.

Cleaning your house is pretty counter productive if you spend all this time killing germs but allowing chemicals to infiltrate your lungs in the process. The chemical ingredients found in most household cleaners are simply dangerous to your health and I urge you to take a moment and read about some great alternatives!

Here are 6 basic ingredients every cleaning cupboard should keep:

Vinegar: One bottle of distilled white vinegar is a healthy home’s perfect companion. Use it anywhere and everywhere. Whether cleaning windows, toilets, drains, sinks etc., it is the active ingredient to cut through grease and kill certain types of bacteria, yeast and mould. You can simply fill a spray bottle with vinegar and add a couple of drops of an essential oil like tea tree or eucalyptus for a safe and efficient do-it-yourself surface cleaner!
Baking soda: Not only a very versatile cleaner, though that's what we're focusing on, but it's also great as a face and body scrub! (But love your skin and still be gentle!) Useful as a mild abrasive and a disinfectant, it's great for all that needed scrubbing.  Just combine it with the above white vinegar and you'll be able to clean just about anything. I like to mix baking soda with vinegar to clean my kitchen sink, shower, bathroom sink and toilet (also adding a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil).
Eucalyptus oil: I'm sure you noticed from the above, my mention of Eucalyptus Oil.  This miracle oil is a great addition to your self made cleaning products as it not only smells wonderful and fresh, but also adds anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties to your already hard working concoctions! Spray and wipe down the kitchen and bathroom benches to disinfect and deodorize as well.  As a bonus, you can also use eucalyptus oil in spray form, to both freshen up the room or by adding it to the steam in your shower; great for the home and for your health!
Castile soap: A great natural cleaner. Castile soap can be used on your body and your home. It comes in concentrated form, so you don't need much each time you use it.  Can be used for laundry, dishes and even on the baby!  No worries here, just squeaky clean living!
Lemon juice: This fruit is so useful, safe and fragrant. The citric acid in lemon is one of nature’s best cleaners. It breaks down oils and also dead skin.  You can easily add this too baking soda and *gently* massage it in to your skin ... leave it on for no more than 5 minutes and then use a little castile soap for the final rinse!  You'll love how your skin glows afterwards!
Clove oil:  Great for mould infested areas.  Simply dilute 2ml of clove oil in 1 liter of water and spray on to problem areas.
See?  Not so bad!  Unfortunately, in the name of convenience, we tend to carelessly buy the cheapest products on the market and it's time we changed our mentality!
These mixes are easy to make and tend to last far longer than your common store bought products.  Imagine how wonderful it will feel to know that when you are cleaning with these natural ingredients, that you are also creating a healthier home environment for yourself and the ones you love.
